Your RBF Must Go!
So, I saw a woman at a networking business event. The lady looked important, but when her eyes met mine… DARTS… and “DON’T ENGAGE!” oozed through the essence of her non-verbal communication… at a networking event!
This woman feels cursed with a Resting Bitch Face, also known as RBF. RBF is a facial expression that unintentionally appears as if a person is angry, annoyed, irritated, or contemptuous, particularly when the person is relaxed, resting or not expressing any particular emotion.
In fact, ALL non-verbal communication speaks louder than the actual words we say. Science tells us that how we say things matters more than the actual words we say. Learnings and knowledge gained from studying and practicing non-verbal communications are brought to bear to share how they impact news reporting, hiring individuals, finding new clients for business, dating, and in many other circumstances.
Good news! RBF can be altered…but it takes work. In this keynote, anecdotes and analogies will be used to introduce techniques related to movement, facial expressions, hand gestures, posture, and eye contact. Throughout, there will be tips on how to read other’s body language to your advantage.
